Summer Reading List, Part 1!
Okay, so now the reason we’re all here: summer reading! This is just Part One of my VERY long list. And please let me know in the comments what you’ll be reading this summer!
How to Bury Your Brother by Lindsey Rogers Cook. OUT NOW. I had the pleasure of writing a blurb for this book and here are my thoughts: “Brilliantly plotted and beautifully written, How to Bury Your Brother questions how well we really know the people we love-and whether it’s ever too late to learn the truth. An unforgettable debut.” – Kristy Woodson Harvey, USA TODAY bestselling author of Slightly South of Simple2. How to Save a Lifeby Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. Releases July 14. From the back cover: The bestselling authors of The Good Widow deliver a modern, suspenseful twist on Groundhog Day that asks the question: How far are you willing to go to save the life of someone you love?
3. Charleston Green by Stephanie Alexander. OUT NOW. From the back cover: If Tipsy Collins learned one thing from her divorce, it’s that everyone in Charleston is a little crazy–even if they’re already dead.
Elin Hilderbrand highly recommends this one!
4. The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel. Releases July 21. This one is actually next on my TBR–but I adore Kristin and her sparkling historical novels, which are perfectly detailed and highly relatable. From the back cover: Inspired by an astonishing true story from World War II, a young woman with a talent for forgery helps hundreds of Jewish children flee the Nazis in this unforgettable historical novel from the international bestselling author of the “epic and heart-wrenching World War II tale” (Alyson Noel, #1 New York Times bestselling author) The Winemaker’s Wife.
5. Summer Longing by Jamie Brenner. OUT NOW. I also got an early copy of this one and just loved it. Here’s what I had to say: “Jamie Brenner’s latest glittering read is her best summer book yet, a combination of page-turning plot and heartfelt human connection that will stay with readers long after the last sunset of the season. With Summer Longing, Jamie Brenner draws a world of hope and second chances that will leave readers wondering, with newfound optimism, what the next chapter might hold for their own lives.”–Kristy Woodson Harvey, author of Slightly South of Simple
6. Hello, Summer by Mary Kay Andrews. OUT NOW. I just flew through this one in a couple of days, which is saying something because there’s so much going on!
Andrews can be counted on for beach-worthy depictions of southern women with chutzpah and a talent for finding trouble with humor and romantic interest mixed in. Fans of Elin Hilderbrand and Kristy Woodson Harvey shouldn’t miss it. –Booklist
