8 Things I’m Loving for December

It really is the most wonderful time of the year and, in the Harvey household, we are savoring every second of the season! Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care, and with tree lightings and Santa visits and–our favorite–the flotilla (i.e. parade of boats on the water!) everything is merrier and brighter than ever!

What I’m Reading: The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. This is the beauty of indie bookstores. I stopped into South Main Book Co. a couple weeks ago and, even though this one is a bit out of my usual genre, the owner thought I would love it. She was right! We’re also reading Unwrapping the Greatest Gift by Ann Voskamp as a family at night. It’s a Christmas devotion for the whole family, and little Will loves it!

What’s Next in my TBR: The Small Crimes of Tiffany Templeton. Richard Fifield is a good friend, a terrific writer, and I am all-in-all thrilled about his new release. I’ve been longing for another Fifield read ever since I finished his last book, The Flood Girls. (This is us. In costumes. Soul mates? Obviously.)

What I’m Listening To: Educated by Tara Westover. I know I’m a little late to the Educated game, but I am loving this one so much!

What I’m Watching: I’m 2 for 2 on fabulous Christmas movies. (Well, I mean, you know, they’re Christmas movies, so take that into consideration!) Let It Snow is, I’m pretty sure, meant for teenagers, but it was adorable, the right mix of feel-good Christmas with a tiny hint of cool, Empire Records-ish vibe. Holiday in the Wild was just adorable. It has all the trappings of a Christmas movie but with BABY ELEPHANTS. Plus, can Kristin Davis and Rob Lowe do any wrong?
