So, it happened. I turned 30. I survived. Thanks to all of you for the amazing birthday wishes. It was a truly great weekend of celebration. My cousin-in-law (is that thing??) Amy Bower and her mom Susan Pearlstine threw Dear Carolina a spectacular book party on what happened to also be my birthday. And they surprised me with the most fabulous birthday cake ever! It was this massive representation of Dear Carolina with “Happy Birthday Kristy” down the side. Susan’s Charleston home is just stunning, and it was a perfect party and kind of the perfect way to cap off the year!
We had a fantastic post-party dinner at the delicious Blossom — and another cake. The best part was that Amy and Susan put a sweet three candles into the massive birthday cake at the party. Mom put a whopping THIRTY candles into the tiny ten-person cake (from Sugar — it’s as good as they say!) we had for dessert. I truly thought the restaurant was going to burn down! Thank goodness little Will was there to help me blow those candles out or we might have been there all night!
Saturday I got to hang at Beaufort Linen Co. with the fabulous Roxy from Society Social, the gorgeous Stephanie from AllieBeads and the amazing Christina who owns Beaufort Linen. After all the travel, we were too pooped to party… I like to drag my birthday out as long as possible so a party in a few weeks when the dust settles is a good excuse to keep it going! I’m thinking a little something like this…
Or, you know, maybe just good food and good friends at home, the place I really want to be most right now!
So far, 30 hasn’t felt all that different from 29. People keep assuring me that the 30s are the best decade, but I’m a little skeptical. After all, the 20s had a lot going for them and so many great things happened.
Thirties, you have big shoes to fill…
Wishing you a wonderful week, friends!
So sweet! Loved the cake!! Wow! What a way to step into your Thirties! They will be the best years of your life! At least they were for me! Wish I was back in them honestly! But hey…I’m happy to be where I am and so happy to know you! Happy Birthday sweet Kristy!
