Blog Hop!

Happy Sunday, friends! I hope you have had a great weekend full of rest and relaxation! My wonderful and talented friend Whitney Grady tagged me for a fun blog hop today! She is author of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards Finalist I Am Currency, a fabulous YA novel that is one of those rare reads that appeals to both girls and boys — and Mom and Dad also want to read it when the kids are finished! And, the best part is that this wonderful book is a part of a trilogy, so book 2 will be out soon!

I Am Currency

A little about the book: When a meteor slams into the earth causing a shift in the earth’s magnetic core, the age of technology ends and economies across the globe crash. Now knowledge is not only power…it is currency. So for tenth grader Nevel Walker, having a photographic memory is a secret his family has to try to keep. With a dystopian government that keeps all known books under lock and key looming as a constant threat and with parents involved in an underground movement to protect the books that do still secretly exist, Nevel is in a dangerous position. A chase through the Australian Outback changes Nevel’s fate as he finds love, mystery, and almost-certain death.

Leslie is the author of the blog, Segreto: The Secret to Beautiful Living Secrets and the author of three fabulous, amazing, gorgeous–and informative–books about interior design! Here’s a little about her:

Graduating from the University of Texas with a business degree, Leslie left her corporate job in 1995 to start Segreto Finishes, naming the company after her husband’s family.  Segreto, which means secret in Italian, rolls up all of Leslie’s passions — architecture, interior design, art, people and business– into her idea of the perfect job.

Leslie’s talent for color, bringing innovative products to Houston, hiring and training a quality staff and working with people on their individual needs, built Segreto’s reputation. By mixing paints and plasters, conceiving new cabinetry finishes and devising architecturally interesting ceiling designs, she adds spark to interiors.

Leslie’s decorative painting firm, Segreto Finishes, has received accolades from channel 13, The Houston Business Journal, Luxe, 002 and Biztec. Her work has been published in both local and national magazines including Veranda, Home, USA Today, Beautiful Homes, Beautiful Baths, Traditional Homes, Kitchen and Bath Ideas, Decorating Spaces, Houston Lifestyles and Homes, Gloss, Southern Living, and Houston and Design Resources (view all Press). She also writes for the Antique Shops and Designers magazine.

Leslie has recently opened an Art Gallery, showroom and furniture-refinishing studio.

I’ve gotten a little sneak peek of Segreto Secrets, (i.e. an advanced copy! Woo hoo! Thanks, sweetie!) and it is even more gorgeous than the first one! This woman keeps getting more talented! I’ve read it cover to cover at least three times since last week. The things that Leslie does with finishes will blow your mind. Even my husband can’t get over it.

  • Kristy,
Your site continues to provide an insiders knowledge of newly published books that would be of great interest to those of us that not only enjoy home decor, but love a good story. I follow Segreto’s blog and have enjoyed her books. I Am Currency sounds intriguing and I always enjoy a good trilogy. It takes care of that feeling of “I don’t want this story to end”.
    xo,
    Karen

    • Thanks, Karen! It does take care of that feeling. Makes it feel more like, “When’s the next one coming out!”
