Hi, friends! Happy Monday! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and holiday weekend — and that you’re feeling merry and bright like I am! I am feeling super proud of myself because it is December 1 and I have 90% of my Christmas shopping done AND I’m putting my cards in the mail today. I’m not sure who this person is. Seriously. I’m usually putting cards in the mail December 22 and paying rush postage to get them to people by Christmas. And having gifts overnighted.
How did she have time to do all of this, you ask? Was it that she had two huge projects to work on this weekend and left to go out of town for Thanksgiving WITHOUT HER COMPUTER? Yeah. So that’s why I had so much shopping time. Stealing from Peter to pay Paul… Sigh… But, hey, I’m going to celebrate the win anyway!
In news even more exciting than my earlybirdness, a fabulous, fellow North Carolina author has written the loveliest things about Dear Carolina. My new friend Kim Boykin, author of The Wisdom of Hair and Palmetto Moon — among many others! — said,
Southern to the bone and full of engaging characters, Dear Carolina is a strikingly beautiful story of love and sacrifice. Kristy Woodson Harvey’s debut novel captures your heart and doesn’t let go; her keen insights into a mother’s love will stay with you long after the last page.
I think of everything that has shocked me since getting my book deal, the most amazing and wonderful surprise has been how generous and giving other authors are. Kim in particular has taken so much time to chat with me and give me advice. And, when you’re a newbie and have no clue what you’re doing, that is such a gift! I just got The Wisdom of Hair and have taken a little sneak peek inside. It’s great already, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
I haven’t written about many books lately, but not because I’m not reading. The problem is that I’m reading like four books at the same time. It kind of drives me crazy, but, on the bright side, I’ll have lots of fun recommendations soon!
Thanks for stopping by today, friends! So thankful for all of you — you make this season merrier and brighter all the time!
P.S. If you love this print, there are only 50 available. And they’re $8. I’m serious. Christmas gifts for everyone at work, perhaps?
Dear Kristy,
I can’t believe you can read 4 books at one time!!!
I spent the weekend preparing the house for the Holiday Tour on the 14th! Tree is up and “decorated” ! Have a few bits of Christmas here and there. Actually my legs are killing me from going up and down the ladder so many times!! I’m getting OLD!
XO
