Why is that? That those sweetest hours fly so fast? I feel like it was five minutes ago that we were celebrating Memorial Day and that long stretch of summer laid out before us, unwrapping and unraveling with possibility. And now here we are. Almost August. Almost fall. A few more weeks before number 2 pencils and alarm clocks, ironed school clothes instead of bathing suits and brushed hair instead of wet little chlorinated strands.
And, when it comes, we’ll be ready. Ready for schedules and work, ready for structure and knowing what comes next.
But, for now, let’s savor summer. Every breeze, every ray of sunshine, every joyous laugh. We’ll be tailgating soon enough. So, for now, we’ll drink in these last few weeks. Not greedily in those big gulps we could afford back in June when it seemed like so much time was left. But slowly, in careful sips, until the very last drop.

And thanks to the fabulous Melanie Burk for letting me use her gorgeous quotes on here! Isn’t this one amazing? Melanie is a mom of three beautiful girls and a creative entrepreneur. She knows first hand how fast those sweetest hours fly!
I thought it was just me. I mean, where has summer gone. I can’t believe that it will be August this weekend! I embrace each season, which are hardly noticeable (weather wise) where we live. But I do like the idea of fall and all that the season offers. We’ll just have to savor these final weeks of summer. 🙂
