Tequila. Salt. Limes. Tortilla chips. Donkey pinata… I have one more thing to add to you Cinco de Mayo shopping list: MY BOOK!
Yup, that’s right, my new, soon-to-be-named (it’s kind of like calling your baby “it” until you finally find out the sex) novel is going to be released on 5-5-15! Isn’t that a great date? I sure think so.
Two years ago I had never even heard the words “publication date.” Six months ago I had a hard time keeping myself thinking positively that that was a phrase I would ever, ever get to have as a part of my vocabulary. Three months ago I was a total nervous wreck because I had a good feeling (yup, feeling) that this thing with Berkley was going to actually pan out. And just a couple of weeks ago I got that amazing, fateful, life-changing, dream-come-true, pop-the-champagne-immediately-if-not-sooner phone call.
My agent said, “How are you?”
And I said, “I don’t know. How am I?”
And he said, “You’re really great.”
And then I blacked out, and he had to get off the phone with me because I wasn’t saying anything that resembled actual words in a sentence.
But, somehow, even after all of that, there was still that residual doubt and panic and concern that maybe all of this just wasn’t official enough. Well, now it’s official. I mean official official. This date has just become one of my new favorites, closely on the heels of my son’s birth, my wedding anniversary, and the day the mini Cadbury eggs come out before Easter. (I wish I was exaggerating about that last one.)
So, mark your calendars friends! We will be celebrating like crazy all week long for the launch. And you will definitely be invited!!
