Sonja Yoerg’s House Broken

Dear Carolina, Women's fiction, House Broken, Sonja Yoerg

Hi, friends! Have you had a good day? I love this time, when the house is quiet and the day is almost over and everything feels calm for a moment. Usually I’m putting Will to bed right now, but he asked his daddy to take over bedtime duty tonight. And I don’t know which one of us was most thrilled by that! I love reading the stories, but it’s pretty cute to see those two boys being best buddies.

I’m feeling very grateful tonight. Not just for my family but for all of the generous and loving people who have reached out to me and offered to help me get Dear Carolina out into the world. I met the lovely and oh-so talented Ariel Lawhon at a conference and she said, “It doesn’t get any better than this.” And that has stuck with me. Because it’s going to be hectic and kind of crazy, but this is the dream, right? And it doesn’t get any better.

Speaking of lovely, wonderful authors, Sonja Yoerg, one of my favorites, has a fabulous debut novel, House Broken, out right now. Even in the midst of launching her very first novel — which sold out on Amazon in like two days, by the way — she is always helping everyone else. And I think it goes without saying that her novel, House Broken, is fabulous! And… you guessed it! She’s giving away a copy right here! Here’s a little more info:

In this compelling and poignant debut novel, a woman skilled at caring for animals must learn to mend the broken relationships in her family.…

For veterinarian Geneva Novak, animals can be easier to understand than people. They’re also easier to forgive. But when her mother, Helen, is injured in a vodka-fueled accident, it’s up to Geneva to give her the care she needs.

Since her teens, Geneva has kept her self-destructive mother at arm’s length. Now, with two slippery teenagers of her own at home, the last thing she wants is to add Helen to the mix. But Geneva’s husband convinces her that letting Helen live with them could be her golden chance to repair their relationship.

Geneva isn’t expecting her mother to change anytime soon, but she may finally get answers to the questions she’s been asking for so long. As the truth about her family unfolds, however, Geneva may find secrets too painful to bear and too terrible to forgive.

Doesn’t that sound amazing?? Enter to win — and if you already follow me on Twitter or Facebook, of course you can click that entry. Good luck everyone!

Bedtime update: Daddy has just informed me that Will’s last words to him were “I’m going to escape…”

  • This novel sounds so moving and eye opening. A book you won’t be able to put down until the last word on the last page is read!
Wonder where Will wants to escape to???
    xo
    Patty

    • There is no telling, Patty. I’m assuming just escaping out of his bed! As though he’s somehow locked in there… Haha! Fortunately, he’s pretty good about bedtime. I think all that running and talking all day wears him out!

  • Kristy,
I think a son and his dad being close starts early and it’s so heartwarming to we moms to witness it. Not to mention the bit of free time it gives you to just absorb the joy of being a family! 🙂
This new book is right up my alley. People and animals, a winning combination.
    xo,
    Karen

    • Totally agree, Karen! It’s sort of bittersweet, I think. But they have so much fun together!

  • Love this post, two gorgeous book covers right next to each other! My husband travels a lot, so I was almost always on bedtime duty for our girls. It was nice to get a break once in a while 🙂

    • Hi Donna! Thank you 🙂 I’m usually on bedtime duty too, so it was a nice little break!

    • You never know… Maybe you’ll win this one too! Haha! Mine keeps getting longer too, Vel. My nightstand looks like a library 🙂
